I always think about this little track from Paris, France’s Shonky and Jennifer Cardini (on Crosstown Rebels) after a weekend of particular indulgence: “Monday. Fuck Monday. Tuesday: Paranoia.” Most of us have been there at some time.
Both Shonky and Cardini were part of the stripped-down minimal techno & tech house sounds that rolled across Europe in the recent past, bringing a bit of spare Berlin into the studied refinement of Paris. I love the gorgeous, drifting textures that accompany the words–a spaceotter classic.

Here’s some of Shonky’s more recent work, featuring that same relaxed, mellow Parisian sophistication:

And some recent mid-tempo techno, tech-house and nu disco goodness from Jennifer Cardini:

Last, I used the “Tuesday Paranoia” track above in one of my first bedroom mixes a few years back, an experiment in various electro, progressive, and techno textures. It’s a shaker, and a favorite. Happy Tuesday Paranoia.
