While everyone is posting lists of their favorite albums, movies, etc. of the year, I decided to list the Ten Best Guest DJ Adventures of the year. Since all my experiences with visiting DJs this year were phenomenal, I will list my Top Ten experiences is chronological order.
This past weekend I had the extreme pleasure of playing an all-vinyl set with the man behind Smokecloud Records, DJ Osmose (aka JB, aka John Bailey). He dropped a few records on me from his label while he was here. And man, I’m talking quality stuff here. One of the highlights is a new split 7 inch from him and nu-disco purveyor, Sleazy McQueen.
The A side starts off with a banging edit by Sleazy McQueen called “TTOF”. The B side slows things down a bit with an edit By Osmose called “Do What Cha Doin”. When I first heard Sleazy McQueen drop “TTOF” at the Seattle Eagle a few months ago, I went running to find out what it was. He proudly announced that it was his own edit to be released on Smokecloud in early December. Well, that date is nearly here, next Tuesday to be exact. US customers can pre-order over at Crosstalk International. Or you can sign up to be alerted when these go on sale over at Juno right now. You better act fast, because these limited edition, hand-stamped gems will fly off the shelf quicker than $2 turkeys at Walmart.
My disco dreams have come true! B40 Exclusive Podcast contributor Osmose included two tracks on his recent mix from the vinyl-only release Moving 2 Fast from Whiskey Disco. With edits from Alkalino, Cole Medina, Eddie C and Osmose, this EP is solid from start to end. Now that the entire release is available for download via Juno, head on over and pick it up already!
