A nice writeup and interview with Nark of the Bottom Forty collective this week in Proud Queer Monthly out of Oregon, with mentions of our B40 events as well as Nark’s recent parties in Portland. Nice job!
“Seattle’s resident superstar deejay has been very busy dabbling in Portland nightlife of late. He’s been seen at Love Ball, played Bridge Club, starred at Control Top, and — along with his Bottom Forty — headlined a certain drag show at The Fez that offered our fair city an up close glimpse of Jinkx Monsoon. And, it seems, that’s all just the beginning.
So who is this music maker from the North and why do all of our city’s party architects love him so? We aimed to get to the bottom of the who, what, where, when, and why that surrounds Kevin Kauer, Seattle’s deejay Nark, on the eve of his big gay Pride party, which brings Alaska Thunderfuck back to town.”
If you haven’t watched your Tivo of Monday’s exciting conclusion of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season Five yet, it’s time to do that and stop claiming people are “spoiling” it for you. At this point it’s public knowledge that Seattle’s team Jinkx took the crown of America’s Next Drag Superstar! Yeah, of course we’re thrilled.
Just in time for this is a new single “Schizophrenic” by our friends and B40 Podcastees Two Dudes in Love (David Sternesky and Mat Dos Santos) featuring Jinkx Monsoon. The track begins with her iconic giggle, and eases into gorgeous deep tech textures while she inhabits the character of Little Edie as she did for RPDR’s “Snatch Game.” The track evolves throughout to a surprisingly lush emotional landscape, which David and Mat say was inspired by “the range of emotions in Jinkx’s performance.” Indeed.
