If there is one song revolving around my life right now, it’s Phon.o’s “Fukushima”. I first heard this in the mesmerizing BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Atoms For Peace; Thom Yorke’s newest side project. I didn’t know what this song was, but as soon as I heard those two words, “save me”..I was all in. ┬áHe along with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich put together an epically diverse 2-hour mix of music, to expand the vision of their debut album, AMOK.

“Fukushima” was released via Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records in September of last year, originally included in Modeselektion Vol.2. It is refreshing to see dance music reflect society as obviously as this track does. The emotional and dire intensity produced by Phon.o reflects the nuclear power plant disaster that is no where near alleviated.
