Phaedrus: “My Future Past” EP (Innerflight Music)

Dutch producer and recent Seattle transplant Phaedrus (aka Joris Kamma) is a growing force in the Cascadia techno scene, and this past weekend it was a pleasure to help him celebrate the release of his new EP, “My Future Past” on Innerflight Music.

The work is quirky and fidgety, without losing its soaring, dreamy elements. I’m particularly enjoying Moodswing and the Time for Trees’ remix, whose sustained bells hover golden over a distorted, earthy bass line.

Seattle Treasures: Rhines of the Innerflight Crew

Written by
April 8, 2013

rhinesMy take: Rhines is a Seattle underground dance music treasure. A transplant from Southern California, where he worked until a few years back with the Ninja Skillz crew and at Simply Jeff’s DJ Culture record store in LA, Rhines (aka SPON.10.80 when he produces tracks) helped found Seattle’s highly respected Innerflight crew with Kadeejah Streets and J-Sun, along with the Flight Deck podcast and Innerflight Music record label. He’s made his primary performance home at Innerflight’s programmatically diverse monthly DROP parties, with  Kadeejah, J-Sun and co-residents Manos, Audrey Horne and Night Train, as well as at a number of other events. Innerflight’s DROP party recently re-located from their former home at the LoFi Performance Space to second Saturdays at the Electric Tea Garden, and will be hosting west coast rave legend Jëno from SF’s Wicked crew this weekend, by the way.
