Just three more days until the Bottom Forty Interior this Saturday at Kremwerk! So to help you keep track, we’re giving you a sneak peak of what we have on tap for you. Today we have a vocal hook-heavy deep house jam by Borrowed Identity selected by Nark!
Only 23 years young, Borrowed Identity resides in Germany but original hails from Romania. Even at his tender age, he seems to have a well seasoned ear with no less than eight releases under his belt.
If you haven’t yet RSVPd to the event, do so now! We’ll have limited edition B40 stickers at the door, so get there early. RSVP to bottomfortyseattle@gmail.com or on the Book of Face event.
2013 was pretty amazing. I heard somewhere that there are something like 2000 house tracks made available via various digital, vinyl and other media every week these days; it’s great to hear the profusion of music coming out and hear everyone’s voice. My own selections for 2013 (11 of them–because it’s an architect vibration in numerology and I like that number) were mostly in the house vein with some tech/booty/nu disco tendencies. Here are some of my favorites released this year. read more …
Every time I play a track from Alex Bau I remember why he’s my favorite Techno artist (with Blawan now being a close second). At a house party last weekend I played “Red Chromosome (Flashback Mix)” which is featured in my Decibel Festival 2012 DJ set. It gets my blood pumping with it’s rumbling bass and whip snapping sample. I was able to snag Alex Bau for a Disco Droppings interview last year. I feel like this feature was missed, and Alex is just too good to ignore. Hopefully, some of you will be intrigued by his words and sounds.
This German dude is on some ominous vibes, and I’m all about it.

Remember the days when hip-hop wasn’t pop? Yeah, if you’re young enough, you probably don’t. So let Berlin deep house producer Alex Agore takes us back to the days when hip-hop had more in common with underground soul, jazz, ethereal samples and delicious grooves than gangsters or commercial bullshit. I was talking to Flammable’s Karl Kamakahi today about missing some proper soul and this one popped up in my SoundCloud feed and straight knocked us both flat. Check it:
