Bottom Forty

Bottom Forty is a mirror ball in New York, a basement in Chicago, a cruise in L.A. and a night in the desert.

Daft Punk – Face To Face (Demon Remix) / Track-a-Day Giveaway

The free tracks keep coming, as we prepare for the Decibel Festival Bottom Forty Showcase, Wednesday 9/25 @ Chop Suey.

I don’t understand why, but there are a lot of awful remixes of Daft Punk songs. I was pretty nervous when I re-worked their song “Something About Us”, and there have only been a couple times when I heard someone’s reinterpretation and thought “Yes. They did their own thing, but still respected the quality and life of Daft Punk’s original production.”

For an example of a remix done right, I present the Demon remix of “Face To Face”. I played it at The Pony in Seattle recently, and love the more fast paced housey perspective.

Mr. Oizo – Amicalement EP

Written by
July 5, 2013

This artist puts me in the greatest and strangest mood. It’s kind of like being insane but enjoying every second. I was giddy to discover Mr. Oizo’s new free EP Amicalement. It’s available via his brilliantly simple site. An old Apple computer is your guide through the most recent projects of French producer/DJ/filmmaker, Quentin Dupieux aka Mr. Oizo. This is bumpin’ 4-track release, favorites are “Unicat” and “Solid (Feat. Marilyn Manson)” for sure.

Surkin & Todd Edwards Make Magic On EP

Written by
July 2, 2013

Ah, two of my favorite producers joining forces. I have a huge crush on Surkin. In addition to being super cute, he’s a highly talented producer from France. I always feel like he’s overlooked in America, and I explained this in my 2012 Disco Droppings feature, profiling hisĀ USA debut album. I love his playful, energetic production style; songs that sound like a radio show from the past, while still containing new modern twists.

Boston Bun - Housecall Video

The illustrious Ed Banger Records, home to Justice, Mr. Oizo, SebastiAn, Feadz, Breakbot and such has welcomed a new member. His name is Boston Bun, and I am so hyped off his tracks. “Shake What You Mama Gave Ya (Deeon Cover)” has been making booty’s bounce at my recent shows. I really don’t know how someone can not dance to this one. His Housecall EP was released on Ed Rec late last year, and every track on here is solid.
