This track..man oh man. I was first entranced by this remix (purchase via Boomkat) when I heard Maya Jane Coles 2nd Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. To me, this was the shining moment of her 2-hour set. Coles is a formidable DJ/Producer, putting together some of the best mixes I’ve ever heard. She is owning the deep house realm with her dazzling sonic work.

If there is one song revolving around my life right now, it’s Phon.o’s “Fukushima”. I first heard this in the mesmerizing BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Atoms For Peace; Thom Yorke’s newest side project. I didn’t know what this song was, but as soon as I heard those two words, “save me”..I was all in. He along with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich put together an epically diverse 2-hour mix of music, to expand the vision of their debut album, AMOK.
“Fukushima” was released via Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records in September of last year, originally included in Modeselektion Vol.2. It is refreshing to see dance music reflect society as obviously as this track does. The emotional and dire intensity produced by Phon.o reflects the nuclear power plant disaster that is no where near alleviated.

Contained within Rustie’s music are all things adventurous, emotional, bright and colorful. After delivering his ultra unique debut album Glass Swords on Warp Records in October of 2011, and a fantastic Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 in April 2012, he’s back in full force. Numbers has put out Triadzz / Slasherr, and I’m loving the vibes.
