The free tracks keep coming, as we prepare for the Decibel Festival Bottom Forty Showcase, Wednesday 9/25 @ Chop Suey.
I don’t understand why, but there are a lot of awful remixes of Daft Punk songs. I was pretty nervous when I re-worked their song “Something About Us”, and there have only been a couple times when I heard someone’s reinterpretation and thought “Yes. They did their own thing, but still respected the quality and life of Daft Punk’s original production.”
For an example of a remix done right, I present the Demon remix of “Face To Face”. I played it at The Pony in Seattle recently, and love the more fast paced housey perspective.

Ah, two of my favorite producers joining forces. I have a huge crush on Surkin. In addition to being super cute, he’s a highly talented producer from France. I always feel like he’s overlooked in America, and I explained this in my 2012 Disco Droppings feature, profiling hisĀ USA debut album. I love his playful, energetic production style; songs that sound like a radio show from the past, while still containing new modern twists.
Back in February of last year, my label 7 Deadly Records put out it’s 3rd release. On Valentines Day, we showcased 2 love inspired remixes. Producer Sphyramid made his own interpretation of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You”, while I remixed Daft Punk’s “Something About Us”. This release is free and can be downloaded via Bandcamp, the other 3 releases from the label are pay what you want. Hope you enjoy.
