Hey kids, I hope your New Year has been crack-a-lacking so far!
About seven months ago, I started a new party at the Seattle Eagle where I play nothing but techno, acid and electro. I stepped up to the challenge and left all my disco at home and brought everything else. Following is my latest mix from the night, and boy oh boy is there some fire in here! A psychedelic scorcher from Rhines of the Innerflight crew, his live closing set from closing our recent Seattle party with Elite Force (Stereophoenix, One Series, DISTRIKT, London UK). If you missed it…I’m sorry. It was really, really good. Elite Force smashed it and Rhines in came in with acid to dissolve the pieces.

Wes Baggaley was found abandoned in a field somewhere in the north of England in the mid 70’s and raised on a diet of lipstick and eye shadow by a pack of transvestite wolves. At the age of 12 the feral tranny Wes was captured by a group of leather clad homosexuals and forced to listen to nothing but Hi-Nrg and disco for 4 years. When he finally escaped at the age of 16, he was picked up whilst hitch-hiking by a group of bug-eyed ravers and taken to the Hacienda. That evening the DJ collapsed from a poppers overdose and Wes jumped over the DJ booth and played the best set the clubbers at the Hacienda had ever heard in their lives. Rumour has it, Wes invented acid house in the late 80’s trying to communicate by emulating the sound of the wolves howls and the disco and hi-nrg music as these are the only noises he had ever heard. Wes is still unable to speak proper English so instead he communicates through the medium of acid house and techno at various sleazy, poppers fuelled parties around the U.K. such as Hotwired, Recon, Little Gay Brother and Tranarchy.
Bottom Forty HBIC Narky Nark laid down the acid house cuts last Friday at the Seattle Eagle. LET’S JACK.

Dropped this guilty little pleasure this weekend at the Burners Without Borders Seattle benefit at Re-Bar. I suspect it might not wear well but in the meantime I’m going to giggle my ass off every time I hear it. I love a playful track. read more …
I recently came across Seattle based producer Codebase through a ‘suggestions for you’ click on Juno and picked up this Falling Bricks record, and it is gorgeous. Riding a fine line between chill out, dance, acid, nu disco and electronica, it’s already gotten some play out of my record bag, check it out! Also go over to Codebase’s Soundcloud for tons of free downloads/remixes.
Every track on this record is a beaut, go pick it up now on Juno.
The B40 crew is traveling a lot lately! Last weekend, I had the pleasure of joining friends in Vancouver BC for a long overdue visit, and we hit up some of the bigger dance venues they had been glowing about. Primary among these was Space Five Sixty for Vancouver’s edition of Bearracuda, which has become the largest of the Bearracuda party franchise, serving bears and their friends dance beats. As expected, the crowd was a sea of beards and furry chests, and the space was gorgeous and multilevel with amazing projections and solid sound. Just as the party was warming up with local support from Jay Douglas, word came through that Chicago “chunk house” headliner Ted Eiel had been turned away at the Canadian border. Ouch.
So imagine our surprise when our dear friend DJ Matt Stands from Seattle took the headlining slot in his place. Matt is a Seattle resident DJ at the Cuff, BarMyx Everett, the west coast Bearracuda and Strapped parties, and my musical co-conspirator from the basement raves that eventually evolved into Burning Man Camp Conception. A true professional, Matt took the last minute phone call, packed the car, drove up and saved the party like a DJ superhero.
