Bottom Forty

Bottom Forty is a mirror ball in New York, a basement in Chicago, a cruise in L.A. and a night in the desert.

NYC’s Levon Vincent and Anthony Parasole

Some New York City house & techno headed Seattle’s way tonight at Rebar’s place!  I took the time to listen up on some mixes and wanted to share what I heard.

Levon has been hanging out in Seattle this past week, gaining inspiration for some new music from our town. To quote Decibel’s/High&Tight’s Cody Morrison, “Levon was the buyer for Halcyon records in NY for many years before he left to make and play music full time. He’s a risk taker in sets [and] kind of a throw back in terms of mixing style.” His Resident Advisor mix is dark, full of unusual textures…definitely not a sound we get a lot of:

More Cody: “Anthony’s style is very interesting because he comes from a hip-hop background so he’ll usually mix some elements of hip-hop into his set at some point, whether it’s a closing track, an intro, or something to give the audience a break from the aggressive house and techno he usually brings.” Parasole’s RA mix starts gentle but quickly becomes mind-bendingly abstract, the heartbeat of several machines. Apparently, Levon and Anthony have been friends for well over a decade but this is the first time they’ve played together in quite sometime. Expect extended (3+ hour) sets and a party that goes all night–a High and Tight trademark.
